This specific recipe was made in a set of fall recipes. I love making something special like this sangria for a fall gathering like Halloween, Thanksgiving, or just a get together with friends and family. I think this one is great to make a boozy version, but you can also remove the wine and substitute in some sparkling water or lemonade for a mocktail version. Now I’ll go into some best tips for making this apple pomegranate sangria.
How soon in advance should I make sangria?
One of the vital parts of a sangria is that it has enough time to sit and soak up the flavors of the fresh fruit and juice. So, I recommend at least 8 hours or overnight. The longer it can soak up flavors the better. I would say you don’t want it to sit too long either just so the fresh fruit doesn’t get too funky. Just the night before or morning of, is best.
Can I make sangria into larger batching?
This is already in 1 large batch. However, if you are making this for a dispenser you could definitely times it by 2 or 3 for a dispenser and it would be the perfect pretty drink for that! You could still add in your ice and many of your mint garnishes, then have a bowl to the side filled with the flower garnishes for guests to top off themselves.
Why does sangria use cheap wine?
Sangria is a mix of wine, fruit, and juice. You can of course use a nice wine, but the beauty of it being mixed with so many other flavors is that the quality of wine doesn’t matter as you won’t be tasting the wine as much. So, pick up a cheaper “2 buck chuck” at the store for something like this.
Can I make sangria without wine or alcohol?
Of course! Although it will technically just be a punch. But it’s just as fun. And great alternative for those who don’t drink or even kiddos to have a special drink. As someone who doesn’t drink, I often feel left out at gatherings by not having something fun to drink. So I highly suggest making both versions for a gathering.
Does sangria need to be refrigerated?
Yes. I always suggest that once you make sangria you cover it or put into a sealable container in the refrigerator. Then transfer into dispenser or pitcher before serving. You also want to wait to add ice or any sparkling water or soda until you’re about to serve!
