I only recommend using granny smiths for this apple pie so the slices stay in tact. And for the flavoring.
Take the sliced apples and top with lemon juice to keep them from browning, then toss with sugar.
The crumble is what makes this pie. Add all ingredients but the butter and mix. Add in the butter and crumble it together.
Add the pie dough to the pan, add apples on top, then top with crumble. Add on extra pie crust decorations. Then pop in the oven.
Take it out of the oven and let it cool. Slice and serve with vanilla ice cream.
